Didcot parkway to Oxford cost?

Hi,
Sorry, now solved.....
I need to travel Didcot Parkway to Oxford for work Mon-Fri every week. (out approx 7.30am , back approx 1800hrs)
On trainline it comes up £9.29, but i am not sure if this is single journey or return?
OK sorry, when looking at season ticket it says its indeed £9.40/day or £39.70/week

£9.29 would be £8.70 for the anytime day single plus £0.59 of booking fees (one of many reasons to not use Trainline!)

From BRFares: an anytime day return is £9.40, while a weekly season ticket is £39.70 as you already know. A monthly season ticket will always cost 3.84 weekly season tickets, while an annual season ticket costs 40 weekly season tickets. Ask your workplace if they have a loan for the annual, as that would be the cheapest.

I'd advise against using Trainline. They charge booking fees which you can avoid by buying your ticket almost anywhere else, e.g. at the station ticket office or ticket machine, or through any train company's website or app. Most other third party retailers also don't charge booking fees.

From a quick search it looks like £9.29 is the cost of the £8.70 Anytime Day Single (SDS) plus Trainline's 59p booking fee.

An Anytime Day Return (SDR) is £9.40, so the £39.70 weekly season ticket is worthwhile if you consistently commute 5 days a week but becomes more expensive than daily tickets as soon as you drop to 4 days a week.

Monthly and annual seasons offer discounts over weekly ones so would still be worthwhile if you have the occasional day off or working from home.

A Flexi Season costs £69.60 for 8 days' travel (within a 28 day period) which works out at £8.70 per day, i.e. half way between the cost of daily tickets and a weekly season. If your commute isn't 100% regular then this is probably the option I'd go for.
