Hey guys (and gals),

I've been applying for a few signalling positions in the south lately. Most vacancy locations are quite straight forward to understand (Haslemere, Woking, Wimbledon, Newhaven, etc). However, I have applied for a position at TVSC, and the location said 'TVSC Didcot (inner)'.

Does anyone know which area this covers?

Paddington to Patchway, Thingley Junction, lines towards westbury, Kemble, associated branch lines. Quite a lot of area!

Thats the extent of the TVSC - I think the signaller post mentioned will only signal a part of that but I may be wrong.

TVSC is split into links, so you don't work the whole area. I can't off the top of my head remember what the link structure is.

If it mirrors the workstation 'grouping' then Inner will be Paddington to Reading West Jn.
Didcot is in the next clutch of workstations. I'm sure someone like Nippy who actually works there will provide us with the correct explanation :D

'TVSC Didcot' is a rather confusing choice of title, surely just Thames Valley Signalling Centre' would be more appropriate if referring to whole establishment. Alternatively, the 'Didcot' chunk is Challow in the west to Cholsey in the east, and about halfway up the road to Oxford!

TVSC Inner is Paddington to Ruscombe. TVSC Outer is the former a Reading Panel area, link 3 is Didcot, Swindon and Stoke Gifford workstations. I suppose calling it TVSC Didcot is so people know where the building is!

The jobs - for the talent pool, are grade 7 so that would be link 3 Didcot, Swindon, Stoke Gifford and the Level Crossing desk as meal relief/cover.

It could also be for (most likely) a new link 4 which may cover Oxford and Bristol are which "might" come in at some point next year or 2019.

Link 1 and 2 are grade 9 inner and outer, so Paddington to Didcot (not including).

I've not long started in link 3 at TVSC, I'm loving it I wish I'd make the move years ago to be honest.

I think Didcot and Cardiff are the only ROCs to ajoin at the moment, controlling from the blocks at Paddington to beyond Bridgend.

Cardiff ROC is fringed by Port Talbot panel at Llanharan, not quite as far as Bridgend!

Isn't the current fringe being extended to Swansea this/next year ?
