I was travelling from Edinburgh to Stirling, stopping over at Falkirk Grahamston with a £12.50 Anytime Return Edinburgh - Stirling

I missed my train and was in a bit of a rush, so I boarded a Glasgow Queen Street train with the intention of stopping in Falkirk High

To be on the safe side, I bought a Single Polmont (the last stop before Falkirk and a station served by the Dumblane trains) to Falkirk High/Grahamston for £3.40

Was my original Edinburgh-Stirling ticket valid between Edinburgh and Falkirk High?

You were travelling on a mapped route via Falkirk routeing point group (G44) on map EI. You can interchange between routeing point group members at intermediate routeing point groups ( in this case High and Grahamston).

Separately, the route you took - Edinburgh - Falkirk High ( walk ) - Falkirk Grahamston Stirling is also within 3 miles of the shortest route by rail.

So your original Edinburgh-Stirling ticket was valid.
