Very sad news overnight from Wales. The firm was the largest coach holiday oeprator based in Wales. People who had booked day trips may not be covered by a bonding scheme, and therefore, it does make me wonder, could there be a bonding scheme created, perhaps administered by the CPT, to allow for cover in case such things happen again?

It is bad news for the firm and the area. However, I think it a sign of the times to come this year. Mystic Greenback predicts that a lot more firms are going to go to the wall in 2011 all across the country.

I have, strnagely enough, just been looking at a copy of the 2011 brochure, where I was looking at the bonds that the company promised would allow for refunds of deposits and monies paid in the event of Diamond becoming insolvent. There is no mention of day trips not being covered, and, as the wording only refers to travel arrangements and the brochure includes day trips, I would suggest that those booked on day trips ought to be covered. Still, I expect there will be delays and arguments over the small print...

I have occasionly seen these coaches on and around the M4 corridor and of course in Swansea itself, infact i saw two last week when i was in Swansea doing running repairs on my 50yr old girl ive got parked there. Sad to see them go as they had at least 10 new vehicles vehicles last year.

That could be part of the problem! The rumour mill says that they over extended themselves by buying new coaches and opening a new branch in Cardiff to compete with the capital based Edwards coaches.
