You should receive practice material from Metrolink at least 7 days before your assessment - you will be required to confirm that to the OPC assessor before the test starts.
Its not a particularly difficult test but I'd recommend accuracy over quantity - good luck!

yeah but a rocket scientist probably thinks the same thing regarding his/her line of work.....but to us mere mortals!........i found the dials pretty straight forward too but i hated the trainability glop test!.... think it's something you take to or you don't we're all different i suppose!
Did you write information down? I did and remembered things easily. It was easy to remember the orders the colours were as you have plenty of time to digest the information
glop test is where you get a passage of writing regarding the operation of the rail treatment train and you listen to a tape at the same time which is playing out exactly what is written on the paper......you listen and read at the same time as taking notes then at the end they take it away and after a few minutes they take your notes away from you and you answer multiple choice questions based on what u have read and heard.
yes i made notes etc you'd be crazy not to! but it's not just as simple as putting down the words you have read is it lol it's about remembering which words you read were lower case like 'this' or upper case like 'THIS' lol.......it's one of those tests where the little things make the big difference much like the old DFFT (driver fault finding test) where you got the entire question right but if you forgot to shade the circle/box or put the name of the company to report the fault to it was wrong lol.
the colors i found straight forward but it's definitely not an easy test!.....but like i say you take to certain things more than others!.....i personally found the dot's dials and pretty much everything else straight forward but no way am i gonna sit here and lull people into a false sense of security and say they are straight forward for everybody lol

I have gained a place on an assessment day to become a metrolink driver, and was struggling to find practice materials for the DIAL and Rules tests - does anybody know where I would be able to find some please?

The tests aren't administered by the OPC but by themselves using their own scoring system.You will sit the dials, scaat(shapes) and another test similar to the Glop(sandite trains).You read a story and and then answer the questions.You will sit a basic maths and English exercise and these do not count towards your two chances should you fail and do not count towards any kind of pass on the heavy rail side.It's simply Metrolink's own recruitment process.

Found the dials straightforward. Glop was the one I was worried about but I passed it. Good luck I'm sure you'll do fine.

Its still the Glop train. Just remember the key points, speeds, colors etc.

They don't use the GLOP test at Metrolink.They use something similar which is a story you read over for five minutes and then the material is taken away and you answer multiple choice questions.
