Intriging!

Before I start, I have to apologise for not posting any trip reports in the past two months! To be honest I haven’t been anywhere in the past month where there was any need to go on more than a couple of trains, so I thought I would do one today, A mix of Buses and trains around Bristol. Apologies once again if it sounds a bit rusty!

So to start, The 0830 Weston-Super-Mare to Bristol TM Train formed of two power cars I could not get the numbers of! This is an Odd train as it Calls at Yatton and Nailsea only on the way to Bristol (normally they also stop at Worle). This first train soon fly’s by and It we arrive into Temple Meads 3 minutes late after congestion at Nailsea.

Next I catch a number 8 bus towards Bond Street, from there it’s a quick McDonalds breakfast before planning the next move! I catch a route 1 Enviro 400 MMC towards Temple Meads before catching the 1116 Bristol Temple Meads to Severn Beach Line, This line had not been covered since last March so I thought it was a good time to revisit! It’s a nice little line and the 50 minutes soon pass by. At Severn Beach there’s enough time to take a photo and get back on the train before It departs again. Today this service was formed of 150131. After departing Severn beach, the Run back towards Bristol Continues, I decide to Bail at Clifton Down (On White ladies Road) And await a Bus to Cribbs Causeway.

Another Route 1. Enviro 400 Pulls up 10 minutes late and takes me all the way to Cribbs Causeway (A 30-minute ride) before eating dinner and boarding the 1256 Route 319 to Bristol Parkway, Here I board the 1428 Crosscountry service from Gloucester to Plymouth, Formed of 221122, Once again I alight at Bristol Temple Meads. During this weekend trains are terminating at Gloucester due to engineering works in the ash church area. Finally at Temple meads again, It’s time for another Bus Ride. It’s a route 71 Streetdeck to The Haymarket before walking over to the bus station and boarding a X2 Streetlite towards Abbots Leigh. The journey is all going well until we start heading up hill! The bus cannot get more than 10mph even being a 14 plate bus!

From Abbots Leigh it’s a 10-minute walk towards the Clifton Suspension Bridge before walking across and once again (After a Run!) Catching the route 9 streetlite back down towards The Centre. After a walk through Cabot circus it’s time to catch enough route 8 Streetlite back to Temple Meads It was now 1644 and the next train home was at 1726, So I took another route 71 to The Centre, at this time it was 1705 and I could not see a bus back to Temple meads, I start panicking not being able to see a bus back and with so little time left! At Last I see a route 50 which at the last second remembered it stopped at the station before arriving at the bottom of temple meads with 2 minutes to spare, by the time I had ran to the train and got on the doors where just shutting and 150232 a newly painted GWR liveried train formed the 1726 towards Weston!

Apologies there are not many trains but I thought it would show that I am still trying to be active! Hope you all enjoyed.

Its twice now I have done it with seconds to spare! Wasn't helped by every Traffic Light being red though!

London 30/4/16

Once again, Apologies for including buses in a rail thread, Just makes it flow alot more.

So once again, I Find my self with a 5:30 alarm call, After quickly getting dressed and walking to the
station I catch the 06:24 1A06 service from Weston to London Paddington, I was only able to get the front power car as i
left paddington which was 43092.

On arriving at Paddington the plan was to make my way to Kensington Olympia to see 37884 passby on its way to
Ramsgate with a refurbed 375, But I then remembered there was no trains stopping on the Bakerloo line at Paddington,
So I boarded a District Line train to Edgware Road (21420 + 21419).
On arrival I then walked to Edgware Road Bakerloo line station where I boarded another tube towards Willeden Jnc.

From here, there where delays on the Overground! A broken down freight train around Barking had caused mayhem and the next train towards Kennsington Olympia was 20 minutes away
so I went for a walk to see what I could see in the freight yard, Mainly a couple of 66's, Also the Sleeper Empty stock passed.
After the walk back to the station 387207 pulled in and an annoucment came through the train saying the Service would now run non-stop to Clapham!
Good news for me, I hoped we would go over the Kennsington Avoiding Line down the middle but unfortunalty that didn't happen and we sped straight through the platform
The train made up 10 minutes running non-stop.

After spending some time photting at Clapham It was time for the next move! the 1110 South West Trains service to Waterloo formed of 5736. From here there was no plan, But I decided to have a walk over Waterloo bridge towards
Charing Cross. There was a food market at Southbank, so I purchased a rather expensive pork roll! 5 Quid a pork roll, and plenty of people are buying them! They must make a fortune!
Once walking across the bridge and through Charing Cross station, I sort of became lost, I wasn't sure what to do or where to go, I ended up walking to Trafalgar Sqaure before deciding to check out the Tottenham Court Road Tube station

So I got a Nothern Line Train a couple (Or Even one! I can't remember how many stops.) to Tottenham Court Road Formed of 51612. Tottenham Court road didn't look nothing special, It once again looked like a plain boring Tube station. So I quickly left and went for a walk down
Oxford Street, I managed to walk half the road before getting a route 73 Borris Bus towards London Victoria.
Once at Victoria, I had a hour walk around the Coach stn at Victoria and taking some snaps before making my way to Tower Gateway on the Circle line formed of 21442. From there DLR 76, 56 and 89 take me to Limehouse and then 357036 to West Ham

From West Ham I catch a Jubilee line service to Stratford formed of 96043.
and thankfully because of it being late I was able to clear my first 90 for haulage which was 90006!
this took me into Liverpool Street before catching an 315 unit I was unable to get the number of to Bethnal Green
I spent a while here and saw what I was waiting to see which in this case 'The EACH Explorer' Formed of 37405 and 37419

I them caught 315805 back into Liverpool Street to get another snap of the charter before boarding a TFL Rail 315 to Stratford once again to wait for The EACH Express
once it had past It was time to catch my second 90 of the day! 90001 rolls into Stratford departing 3 late. walking through the train to get off quickly at Liverpool Street (as time is soon counting down till home time) I pass a load of drunks and feeling how lucky i must have been
for not coming all the way from Norwich with these fools!

Once back at Liverpool Street I Caught a Route 205 Bus all the way back around to Paddington where I boarded the 1808 to Reading and from Reading the 1859 to Weston!

Really do Enjoy London trips! So much variety and traction to try! Apologies for any spelling errors or bits that don't make sense! Rather tired when I type this.

Shame about the delays bowling you out, but you certainly made a good go of the day though. 90006 is one of only 5 I need with GA so I'm jealous. Same for the 37s being observed on that charter, should imagine the noise was excellent!

Chasing the Champion 7/5

Right, another saturday morning, another early start, After a walk down the station and Its time to board the 0646 GWR Service to Taunton
today formed of 150121, From there 153372 + 153377 Take me Onwards to Exeter St Davids, After a Bacon Roll In Starbucks it time to board the 0837
service to Dawlish! 150221 for this section of the Journey, Haven't been alone the seawall in a long while and to be fair there hadn't been alot of change.

The Main purpose of this trip was to see Western Champion D1015 or on the day as it was named and numbered either side Campaigner D1010 and Nobleman D1058!
I dragged myself up the steep hill West of Dawlish to get my first shot of it. After about 30 minutes of waiting I was told it was 20 Early! and wasn't too far away!
Suprizingly there was not many other 'Enthusiasts' Around.

After seeing it pass I saw there was a earlier train to Newton Abbot that would connect with a train to Plymouth meaning I would get to see the Western for a second time!
A quick rush down the Hill Connects me onto the 1016 service to Newton Abbot formed of 153369 and 153368.
It was rammed, Managed to get a seat as most people got off at Teighmouth! Must have been expecting the Good weather.
On arrival into Newton Abbot It was a quick wait for the 10:44 to Plymouth! We set off from Newton Abbot 5 late after about 50 storm troopers tried to get into one Coach!

We arrived into Plymouth at 11:23 still an hour to go intil the train was mean't to depart. It gave me time to get plenty of shots oh it.
At 1235 It powered into Life and covered the station in black smoke! The Noise was better than alot of locos ive heard before!

At this point I went for a walk around Plymouth Shops! Had no plans until going home at this point, But I thought if I passed some time 43002 was booked into Plymouth at 1500 so I would wait and see it!
Sure enough at 15:09 43002 Pulled in heading for Penzance! All the Staff suddenly came out of no where taking photos on there phones and then all cleared offf back to there jobs.

It was then time for a Train back to Exeter! 1525 Service formed of 221139 some rather keen train crew on there! The Catering Person took about 5 minutes doing his annoucment and by the time he was done we where well past Laira!
(It started as we pulled out of Plymouth!)
On Arrival Into Exeter It was a 3 minute connetion onto the 16:25 Exeter St Davids to Exeter Central Service forme dof 159008
After a quick walk into the town 150221 for the second time took me back to Exeter St Davids on the 16:52 Service
at 17:30 The Western came back through the Station, and once again on departure threw out a load of black smoke! What a wonderful loco.

Now for the Boring Trip Home! The 18:02 from Exeter to Taunton formed of a HST set I couldn't get numbers of!
and 150232 on the 19:07 Service to WSM! Arriving Home at 1945!

Our paths crossed for a while on Saturday then - I photographed D1015 at Dawlish Warren, then got the 153s to Newton, then the 10.44 to Plymouth. Next move was 43366/04 to Totnes to get the Western storming through the station. GWR HST to Exeter, then a quick dash to Paignton and back, before getting the 17.25 Waterloo back home in time to get D1015 crawling through the station waiting for the barriers to lower at Castle Hill level crossing.

Sounds like an excellent day out there, very jealous of the Western action! My machine does look good in blue and yellow, but I like the black and yellow livery better!

Sounds like a cracking couple of days there! Shame about the delays in London but it sounds like it was a great time anyway! The Western must have been brilliant! 43002 also looks great!

Blimey! Whole month has passed already! Will try and get a new couple of reports up this week

Alright, So its been 2 months since my last trip report! Whoops! Had so much work to do.
Anyway, Im going to be publishing quite a few today starting off with a couple of trips when I was on
at the end of May!

27th May 2016 Up to the North Wales Coast.

So, Not an early start on this trip! 1510 Departure from Weston to Bristol TM. 158766 providing, From Bristol TM 158798
rolls in to take me all the way to Newport. At Newport I have an hour to wait. 67001 Rolls by from Tyre turning In Crewe
and gives me my first view on what is to come later!

So at 1741 (10 Minutes Late!) 67013 rolls into Newport! I Had been looking forward to riding the WAG All the way up
to North wales for years! Unluckily not First Class but oh well. It was rammed on leaving Newport and slowly cleared out along the way.
On Departure from Hereford it was nearly 18:40 and I was starving! I didn't realize until then you can buy food for Standard Class!
On the Menu that Evening was Curry's and a Roast Lamb Dinner, I choose the Roast Lamb and It was well worth the Value for money!
£4.99 for a Roast Lamb Dinner, Bargain! It took 20 minutes to cook and came on a proper plate with proper knifes and forks!
Exellently laid out, only downside was the meat was a bit chewy but oh well! For a 4.99 Meal on a Train is was excellent!

By the time I had got my food and waiting we where at Shrewsbury! That sure did pass alot of time which would normally feel like an age.
The Journey soon vanished away after that, Wrexham then Chester and then the slow roll along the North Wales Coast, At this point we where
20 minutes late, No idea how, but we where. We arrived into Llandudno Junction 22 late.

It was then a 15 minute wait before 150262 took me into Llandudno station ending up arriving 45 minutes after planned at 2145.

Some excellent reads there, some nice photo's too. Have to admit Im not a bus crank, each to thier own, It doesn't detract from a good read though.

Love the sound of the Wizzo's, them Maybach engines sound great, especially when they're opened up.

A few memories relived, even though it's ony a couple of weeks back, 67013 and walking to and back from WSM Station.

Nice to know you can order an Evening Meal on the WAG though, nice bit off info that.

It does help being non-stop Hereford to Shrewsbury to be fair It flew by when 47403 and I did that trip a year ago this month (jeez where has the time gone?!) as well. I've yet to do a 67 north of Hereford on the WAG-Ex, but one day I shall. I'd love to try First Class on it, but the ching is too much.

Anglia Adventure Part 1 28/7/16

And Once again! I forgot to write some trip reports for everyone! Anyway, This is a Trip Report
of my trip to East Anglia on the 28/29 July 2016.

So, Thursday 28th July, After a Walk to the Station, The 0648 Weston to London Paddington Train is
already waiting in the station, The service formed of 43069 and 43088, I headed to my normal (and favourite seat)
on the HST to London, the Table closest to the buffet (If avalible) which most of the time is,
due to the train starting at WSM. Anyway, The journey was the same journey as I always remember it being,
nothing intesting to report until past Didcot Parkway, where freights and turbos start appearing. The journey to
london is once again at an end as the Crossrail work site is visible and 66772 sits awaiting action.

On Arrival at London, and after getting lost at Paddington trying to find the Hammersmith and City Line Platforms
(I Should Known Better), I boarded a Circle Line Train all the away around to Liverpool Street, This tube took its time,
It felt like the longest journey I had even been on, It was now 0945 and I was at Kings Cross, the train to Ipswich departs at
1000, so panic started to set in, at 0957 I arrived at Liverpool Street.

After a ran to the advertised platform of 13, No train was in the station. At 1003 90013 arrived Empty Stock from Ilford after an earlier train fault, at 1007 the train finally departed and soon after it was a rush to write down numbers of passing trains, Ilford Depot was almost empty apart from 365512.

Soon after Ilford was the TFL Rail Sidings, Not sure of the proper name but it was rammed full of units! only just
managed to get them all down! I still needed to buy a Anglia Plus 3 in 7 Ticket, Luckily, after about 15 minutes of messing about the guard was able to product the 3 in 7 ticket for just over £24! Bargain! I arrived at Ipswich at 11:15, Approixmatly 9 minutes late, after following a 360 unit to chelmsford which was meant to leave after our train but ran ontime unlike mine! The stop at Ipswich was to collect any units which where hanging around on either the Felixstowe or Cambridge/Peterborough service.
a few freights also went past including 86608 and 86628 which where both new for me!

After an hour and a half here, I awaited the delayed 12:44 serviced to Norwich, Booked for a class 90
but at 12:50 321347 and 321348 rolled into the station to my disappointment! Oh well a bit of variety never hurts!

The train arrives at Norwich at 13:32 where I stay at Norwich station for 30 minutes collecting Wherry Line and Sheringham Units. At 1400 I made my way to my hotel, The Premier Inn Just Over the road from the station!
My first time in a premier inn and I was well impressed, A Nice Spacious from with clean bathrooms
and even a balcony which the river in the Norwich was viewable from...

Anglia Adventure Part 2 28/7/16

So... Where I had I Left off, I had just checked-in to my hotel room and was now walking the 5 minutes back to the station.
I filled in day 1 of my 3 days and waited for my first train, the time was now 14:30 and my first loco hauled train rolled in,
The 37 Short Set, today formed of 37405 and 37422, The first and longest line I wanted to clear was Lowestoft, and luckily enough
this is where the train was going! So at 1455 the guard blew his whistle and we powered away into a light cloud of black smoke.
I had never been hauled by 37's before so I was quite suprised to feel how powerful the accelation on these olds locos where!

Everytime I Have seen videos of the loco sets at Brundall, They have always slowly came in and departed, I was suprised to see
we where an exception and at 1505 we shot through Brundall at around 55mph! We soon start slowing for Reedham and the tight
bend towards the swing bridge which was the next thing I was looking out for and too be far I wasn't really that impressed.
After another tight bend the locos soon powered up again before heading onto the final leg into Lowestoft, Where a Leg Stretch
Of 10 Minutes Occured.

After an Ipswich service had arrived and the signal cleared the train departed back to Norwich at 1548, This time a stopping service,
this allowed more time to have alook around at the countryside and it does make a change from the hills and peaks in Somerset!
The Train finally arrives into Norwich at 1635 ontime after a signal check just outside Norwich.
After a 4 minute dash across platforms the Next loco hauled set was awaiting this time the 68's!

I had experienced class 68's before on the Barrow Hill Roundhouse Line, So already knew what to expect from
68016 and 68019 and at 1640 the train (To Great Yarmouth) powered away less dramatically than the 37's.
As soon as we cleared the bend at Crown Point, the trains speed soon shut up dramatically as the driver fully opened the loco.
This was the second line to clear today, Brundall to Great Yarmouth Via Acle, Out of all lines this was the second most impressive,
the track was the straightest had ever seen a line, even though you are only doing 60mph it feels like alot more!
At 1712 I arrive into Great Yarmouth and find an oppitunity to get some photos of the train before it departs back to Norwich

I decide to try to find the town centre for some dinner before the 1747 back to Norwich, as I head out the station I see a bus
departing the stock saying it was going to the Seafront/Town Centre, unluckily I had missed it and it was the last one of the day!
Damn! So I ask someone how far the walk to the town centre is, 1.5 miles he replies, I couldn't be bothered (and probably didn't have
enough time to make it now, So I started walking it away! Hoping to find some sort of restraunt on the way. Suprise Suprise, It
now starts ****ing it down as I make my way towards a signposted Mcdonalds. After about 10 minutes of walking (The Rain getting
heavier every moment, I start wondering back to the station as it was approaching 1730 and didn't want to miss the train.
As soon as I arrive back at the station the sun starts to come out! Bloody Typical!! Oh well, 156422 pulls in at 1742 and then works
the 1747 towards Norwich! To my suprise the train was working via Berney Arms! The final of the Wherry Lines I needed to clear! finally a bonus!
I decide to get off at Brundall as I have seen plenty of good photos from the station so I decided to have ago myself! I await the 68 set by at this time had already made its way to Norwich and back out towards Great Yarmouth.

No trains where due for now apart from the next train to Norwich so I awaited this, the 1839 Brundall to Norwich,
to my suprise 37422 and 37405 rolled in again! Another go on the 37's! why not! It was now 1855 and I had enough of bashing
for one night! I sat on the end of the station for about 25 minutes to see the 37's depart as long as collect some more required DMU's for sight as long as 90's. at 1925 I decide its time for dinner after the unsuccessful attempt at Great Yarmouth! I start walking towards the town centre which I never found and didn't
find one food venue that interested me! So I walked back to the Hotel Restraunt and ate there. After Dinner, returning to the station at 20:40 to see the 37's depart to the sidings once again.
After This I Returned to The Hotel To Recharge for the night and charge batteries for Cameras and phone for Fridays (Small Adventure) before returning home!
