DFR Multiple Unit Festival/Sprinter Charter 22/3/14

The first of the Dean Forest Railways special events is the Multiple Unit Festival on Saturday 22nd March.
A First Great Western Class 150 'Sprinter' unit is being chartered, and will leave Gloucester Station at approx 10am, and travelling down the mainline to the DFR connection, and onward to Parkend at the Northern end of the DFR. We believe this is the first time since 1929 that you could purchase a Gloucester/Parkend return for the day!
The sprinter unit will then spend the day on the DFR to allow the other passengers to ride on it, joining our two Class 108 DMU's and other locos for an intensive timetable, before returning to Gloucester at approx 16:30.
Tickets and further info are now available online at http://www.dfr.co.uk- the exclusive ticket to ride on the sprinter from Gloucester (limited availability) - and the normal event Rover ticket are both available.

I'm hoping to go too, either on the charter itself or just wait for it to arrive at the DFR. If the 108 buffet is operating on the DFR, I recommend the cakes......! (Tip: Get in early!)

Should be a good day and a bit of a double-take for the "normals" when they see the 150 running over the level crossings.

It was a great day out! The FGW guys were superb and the trains were all very busy. I know people will roll their at eyes at a 150 but it was the principle that mattered and it all went off very smoothly. A well organised and well patronised event. Let's do it again!

Cakes were good too.....;)
