Above the qr code there is a bit that moves about. If that does not happen the ticket is invalid

I have lived in Germany and travelled there extensively and only once been asked for ID on a train. That was when someone rang the police and said there was a terrorist at Geislingen Steige station!

Last month I was asked for ID once with my Deutschlandticket. Occasionally also with Interrail. With other tickets in Germany, it's very, very rare.

The FAQ for the HVV Switch app regarding using the D-Ticket states:

Will my Germany ticket also be displayed in the hvv switch app if I am offline?
Yes. As soon as your Germany ticket has been loaded into the hvv switch app, it will be displayed at any time, whether online or offline.

The HVV app is quite good for also 'remembering' to stay on the page with the ticket. Unless you manually killed the app, it'd automatically bring the ticket up on re-launch. This included areas with naff signal (which are very common in Germany).

Nothing more frustrating than having to go through about 500 screens when the Fahrscheinkontrolle suddenly springs up on you.
