Deutsche Bahn Strikes

Hi,

I was just wondering whether anyone had more news that I do on the situation in Germany. I am currently living here (I am terrible at googling things and I can't really find anything about it) and I have booked to travel by train home:

Münster (Westf) Hbf --> Köln Hbf --> Bruxelles --> STP --> Wakefield Westgate

On Thursday, departing at 13.03 German time. Are there additional strikes planned for this week? I know that they prevented the strikes that were planned for last week/a couple of weeks ago, but my girlfriend heard on the radio here that there may be more in the pipeline for this week, which could seriously mess all of my connections up. I'm particularly worried about missing my Eurostar and my EC train back up to Wakefield.

Does anyone have any info on this and what I should do if I do actually miss any connections?

First, there's extensive discussion on previous strikes here which indicates that there wasn't necessarily a total stoppage. http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?p=2086128#post2086128

Second, DB, Thalys, ES and so on are part of Railteam and will convey you as best they can by the next available service. So will Virgin East Coast. If need be get your ticket endorsed on board.

Third, as always, have a read of www.seat61.com!

BTW The only report on ZDF for the coming week is about teachers.

Thank you for your reply. I know that there wasn't a previous 'full' strike, but I couldn't remember whether there was either a massively reduced IC service or likewise for Regional services. Also, I didn't think that VTEC would honour such a delay, knowing that is a bit of a reassurance!

All UK operators will do so even if you are travelling on split tickets, in your case even better if you have an international add-on one with CIV on it somewhere.

Sorry, it's a ticket issued under international rail terms and conditions. I'm sure the letters appear on DB issued tickets and on tickets to/from London International
