The GA screens look like what you'd get if you got someone who'd only seen some pictures of the railway and asked them to google what sort of things could go on the screens, and got them to mock something up in Powerpoint.

The GA ones often display nonsense. Some here say they are not updated from live train data but some GA moderated edit of a feed.

The ones at Blackfriars need removing and then throwing into the Thames. They are awful !

On the bay platforms yes they are atrocious! Completely non-standard and a weird style that isn't very legible. The through Thameslink platforms are the standard ones they have throughout the core.

The problem for some people with the standard T/L core indicators is that everyone is used to reading a list of destinations from top to bottom. But the "thermometer blob" with the vertical line and the horizontal dashes makes it look to some people as though you read from the bottom up, and the station at the bottom is the first one the next train stops at - hence clashing with expectations and causing confusion. It would be less confusing without the unnecessary dashed yellow line down the side of the station list. The line might look pretty, but it lessens comprehension for some people.

They really are. I know 95% of the time they're used by the Sevenoaks trains and 95% of people using those trains could read out the list of stations by rote but the other 5% are probably trying to get to the hospitals so clear information would be appreciated by them. and my slightly OCD nature is offended by the lack of uniformity

Still at least they work, the same ones at St Pancras barely function any more. Presumably they'll replace with a shiny mew version like the one over the Thameslink entrance at some point. On the subject of the latter you'd have thought it possible to indicate where a change at Blackfriars is necessary. instead the Catford Loop stations just fall off the grid when there isn't one in two hours...

Denmark Hill itself has just been upgraded with Two new electronic signs per platform (1 vertical scrolling, 1 Horizontal) under brand new canopies to protect passengers from the elements. On platforms 2,3 & 4 that is, Passengers on platform 1 must suffer getting wet and living in ignorance as they got neither cannopy or new signage...

it's odd because certainly in the morning platforms 1 and 3 are the busiest. It was funded by Network rail so the thought that crossed my mind that this was Thameslink looking after their platforms was a red herring. I can only think penny saving is behind it but i makes the station look really odd (and as for my OCD nature...)

If they had the same screens and at least adjacent to each other on the through platform’s and bays would help.
On the through platforms I think the screens (the ones with 2 screens/monitors) have too much info for a lot of the public. You can see them pointing and assuming wrongly that one screen for example is for platform 2 and the other screen is for the bay platform 3.

yeah I agree entirely. Platforms 1 & 2 used to have the same so it can only be penny pinching to do miss off 2 platforms when they redid the rest of the building and the through platforms. Surely it will cost more to come back and add at a later date...
