It looks like a works number of some sort?

Have seen the 365s dsplay "BR Class 465" in a similar vein when rebooted.

Could be something to do with sat nav, so the train know when to display 'Next stop......' or 'Now approaching............' ?

If by that you mean it is displaying latitude, 48.5N is south of Paris... 45.5W is in the Atlantic/Greenland (at least, if you're in the Northern Hemisphere) and 48.5E is east of Moscow, passing through Iran, Saudi Arabia and Madagascar (amongst others)

This was somewhere around Hedge End/Botley, so not a GPS thing I don't reckon.

Who knows. Definetly not an IP address. 48 isn't allocated to anyone remotely linked to Siemens or Trains in general.

I'd say it's the Desiro PIS Build number.

It's definitely not an IP address as it's not following the IPv4 or IPv6 format of xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx as the maximum number of integers.

Normally when the system is is rebooted the PIS interface screen will display this and a few other things too while it performs a system test/start up but i have never had it display on the PIS screens its self but this is generally a normal thing for the displays in the gold fish bowl or a cab.

Either that or the Guard was bored possibly?

It is showing the interior destination indicator has not been installed to the correct postion. Sometimes when the PIS system reboots, a component loses its settings and will then start to display numbers.
