was that the one that the passenger ended up basically setting fire to themself?

if it is... then i would have thought that it would be at Northampton Depot. but i suppose it depends on the extent of the damage

It was last stopped at Bletchley. It made its way from Leighton Buzzard to Bletchley under its own power, for the record.

I don't know to be honest. I wouldn't have thought so, the damage was mostly cosmetic. Nothing a few replacement panels ordered in won't fix.

aye... but remember there will be insurance firms involved...<(

so will take months to make a decision and then aprobably a few days or weeks to do the actual repairs...

They should be able to do that at Northampton, have had pannels replaced on 185s at Ardwick before IIRC, when somone throught it was funny to try and set fire to the wall on one, after smashing the escape window (the joys of late night BPN - MIA services)

I guess we will wait and see. I get the feeling with these new-fangled machines though, that whenever something goes wrong it's a more major fix than the equivalent on older stock.

thing is iirc the fire was in the toilet... so it could be more than just a few panels need sorting

True. It is the toilet component that needs replacing, the structural integrity of the vehicle hasn't been compromised. I think RailCare at Wolverton also took a trip up to help.

I don't know how long though it will take Herr Siemens to manufacture a replacement toilet gubbins. Possibly nick one off the 380 line?

I understand the damage to this vehicle is quite substantial - not a repair that will be carried out in a few hours.

I got told that repairs were going to be carried out at Wolverton and that it was not required to go back to Germany.

We can only speculate on when it will be repaired though...

So between us we can establish that substantial damage has occurred which has not compromised the structural integrity of the vehicle, which will take a fair period of time to repair but will not involve it moving any further than Wolverton.

C'mon, this is what forums are for!

Surely it can't be that substantial beyond the actual toilet itself if the lights still worked just beyond the set of doors by the loo.. not to mention the unit moving under its own power to Bletchley.

A quick check on the status of 350232 has thrown up that it moved to Wolverton with 350267 assisting.

So I would like to think that it has actually moved.

It was at Northampton on Wednesday. When was the move to Wolverton?

Last I heard of it, it was involved in that unfortunate suicide attempt with the women outside of Milton Keynes

Has anyone got an update on where it is and what is happening with it?

It wasn't a suicide attempt, it was a suicide. The woman died.

350232 was kept inside the old TMD at Bletchley from 11th-28th of April for initial inspection & removal of certain debris. On 28th of April it ran, assisted by 350267, to Wolverton Railcare where it currently sits. As burn damage found it's way outside of the toilet compartment, various panels, seats & other fittings are damaged throughout the saloon. Heat also found it's way behind various panels, so whether or not damage to wiring and stuff has occurred I don't know. Initial estimates of completing the repairs & returning the unit to service are around 9 to 12 months.
The possibility of using 350232 as a temporary 3 car set was explored but ditched because of software issues.

It might be an idea to get the accident report when RAIB have finished because from what I have heard ( from sources i wont name in a public forum, for obvious reasons) the actual fire was a lot worse than people have suggested. The toliet area contained the majority of the main fire but as Scud has pointed out there was substantial secondary damage.

The incident was an aerosol detonation wasn't it? So there could be some shock wave effects on the structural members of the carriage?
