Derry to Drogheda Fare

Hi all

I am going out to Drogheda from Letterkenny tomorrow and have 3 options as to how to get there and back

Option 1: Coach only option with a change at Monaghan
Option 2: Coach through to Derry then getting train from Derry to Belfast with change at Belfast
Option 3: Coach from Letterkenny to Dublin and then a train from Dublin to Drogheda

Now i know that the coach only option costs 41 euro for an adult day return but with option 2 i know that for a day return from Letterkenny to Derry is 12.80 and i just want to ask would i be able to buy a through ticket from Derry to Drogheda by train and if anyone knows how much this would be and with the 3rd option i know that a day return from Letterkenny to Dublin costs 26 euro but i would just like to find out if anyone knows how much it would be for a day return from Dublin to Drogheda by train.

In short i just want to know what option would be cheapest.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Would you consider getting the 212 to Belfast. A through fare might be available from Letterkenny and it would be quicker than the train

it could be a possibility was just thinking the train as it means i only have to change at Belfast Central itself as i have never been to Belfast before and would not be sure how to get from the Bus Station to the train station

10 - 15 minute walk, or get any Londonderry, Bangor or Carrickfergus train from Great Vic St to Central - about ten minutes. You might be able to do this on your Drogheda ticket.

Translink enterprise site £29 buy in Derry. It is a lovely run on the train!

Europa Bus Station and Great Victoria Street Station are next door to one another. You could then take a train to Lisburn or Portadown and pick up the Enterprise there.

Travel into Belfast city centre free of charge on Metro bus services from the bus-stop on the left at the front of the station building.

Please present a valid Enterprise ticket to avail of free onward travel.

thats not too bad at £29 i take it thats a through ticket then from Derry to Drogheda. I am assuming though that that will be a single fare and the return maybe double that price.

ok i have just seen the return price is actually only £33 which is still good value but when converted to euros it works out as 45 euros which is dearer than the coach only option so that sort of rules that out. so it looks like coach only option or coach to dublin then train into Drogheda, i have seen some prices between the 2 but these are enterprise only prices and i assume if i was to get a local train it may cost slightly less unless of course i am completely wrong and even the local train cost the same even though its an all stop service.

Thank you for all the replies but i have now decided that i will take the coach to Dublin and then get the train to Drogheda as this works out as the cheapest option seeing as the bus to Dublin is 26 euro return and then the train fare is 14.60 which is 40.60 in total and a smidgen cheaper than the coach only option.
