Derbyshire Wayfarer / New Mills validity

Hello,
I understand that buying an appropriate anytime/off-peak ticket to a station covered by a ranger/rover counts as valid, even if the train doesn't stop at that station.

In my case, I'm specifically thinking about a Manchester Piccadilly > New Mills Central off-peak single, and a Derbyshire Wayfarer.

Would a Manchester Piccadilly>New Mills Central off-peak single, and a Derbyshire Wayfarer be valid on the Saturday 05:46 from Manchester Piccadilly to Sheffield? This train looks like it doesn't actually pass through New Mills Central or New Mills Newtown at all (instead taking the stretch of line between Hazel Grove and Chinley)

If one had the return portion of a ticket like Buxton to Manchester (allowing travel from Manchester to Buxton, which necessarily goes through New Mills Newtown), would this allow a direct Manchester>Sheffield journey with the Derbyshire Wayfarer? Or would one be required to go to New Mills Newtown, then change to New Mills Central?

Isn't that the 05:46 from Manchester Piccadilly? Reckon you'll need a single to Chinley. I'll defer to others regarding query #2.

Yes, you can get an itinerary changing at NMN, using the fixed link walk between the two stations (downhill in that direction!)

It's arguably a little harsh for the Derbyshire Wayfarer to only be valid from Chinley on services that use the Hazel Grove-Chinley line (which avoids both New Mills stations), but given that rover/ranger validity is defined by specific stations rather than zones or station groups, it's the way it works unfortunately.

A ticket to Chinley is fortunately not too much more than one to either of the New Mills stations.
