Derby to Uttoxeter saturday 10:42

i am going to midlands national on saturday and just wondered what type of train/carriage formation east midlands will be running, can anyone , will be derby to crewe service, many thanks

I believe it's usually a single car 153, although whether it will be strengthened is anyone's guess!

Recently they seem to be strengthening that line at weekends with a 2-car 158 running in lieu of one of the 153s - but I think that's the best you'll get sadly.

As others have said, you may get a 153, or if you are really lucky, the luxury of a 2 car 158. That's about as goods it'll get

Why? The inbound working doesn't get in until 1023.

I've heard a Meridian mentioned in passing - though I don't know any details of what it might be working, or indeed whether there's any truth in it...!

And there will already be to many people to fit on the train by then, anyway EMT have said that they are aiming for the busiest services to be formed of 3 coaches

So the key is not to arrive there insanely early, but to position yourself strategically.

That train was 2 x Class 153 when I saw it a few weeks ago (on my way to Loughborough via Crewe & Derby). The other two diagrams were single 153s. EM sometimes manage to strengthen the trains on Uttoxeter race days. Getting on a train at Uttoxeter after the races can be "interesting", but today I saw an EM notice stating that they are running some extras from Uttoxeter after the races - 2 to Derby and 1 to Stoke.

never been unable to board the train coming back to derby unfortunately the same cant be said for getting there however EMT had put on buses to get the additional passengers there.

Where is the source for this as this suggests EMT normally have loads of stock lying around on a Saturday or are services on other lines being shortened.

Being able to find two units for three or four hours each doesn't mean that they have "loads of stock lying around on a Saturday". It could be that they're sitting on Etches Park, for example, unable to work a full day's diagram because of maintenance requirements, but able to be released to work a round trip to Stoke and back.
