Dear all,

I need to go from Derby to Durham next Friday around 1800. I'll be driving back, so I only need a single (with 16-25 railcard). There is an advance for £25.75 at the moment, but I would prefer to be flexible. The only single is £53.45, which is pretty outrageous. Can I do it cheaper?

Thanks,

Mark

This would be the perfect sort of journey for TrainsCanBeCheaper to handle.

It suggests splits at Thurnscoe, Sherburn-in-Elmet and Northallerton which brings it down to £38 in total without Railcard discount, so around £25 with Railcard. There is a huge time penalty however to split this way.

You can split at more convenient locations such as Sheffield and York by paying a bit more.
