Admission is by advance ticket only in order that the number of visitors can be controlled.

Visiting locomotives should include D4, D1015, 45133 and Tornado.

During the day the depot 08, in its new Midland red livery, will be named. A Meridian will also be named during the event.

Details on page 10 in the latest edition of Rail Announcement:

There is a website http://www.derby175.com/ but it doesnt gives details of this particular date.

Maybe it is something being arranged by East Midlands Trains themselves. Much of the running so far has been by Bombardier.

The other group to keep an eye on is the Derbyshire and Derby Rail Forum http://www.derbyrailforum.org.uk/DDRF-Events

There is a shindig at the station on Friday to celebrate the first train out of Derby in 1839.

I'm a bit confused as I thought it was the fourth of June. Maybe that was the first scheduled public service.

There is a special issue of the Derby Evening Telegraph today http://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/railway-industry-important-Derby/story-21151288-detail/story.html

EDIT: There's also a Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Derby175

POSTSCRIPT: Is that the Harringworth Viaduct in the picture?

I have asked someone within EMT about this, and am awaiting a response: I will pass this on when I find out more.

Further to this, tickets will be available nearer the time (and on the day too, apparently) and it will be a public event. I will pass on more as I find out more.
