Derailment at Windsor & Eton Riverside

As I am sure many of you will be aware a few days ago there was a derailment at 6:15 in the morning at Windsor and Eton riverside as a class 450/5 was pulling out of the station, as it was starting its journey to Waterloo.

Does anyone have any more information about this? There doesn’t seem to be much more information on the internet that I could find, other than the last carriage left the rails and a replacement bus service was going, with NR staff investigating.

I remember thinking the track around there looked a little “tired” shall we say, but would be interested to know if anyone has any more information on this.

Yesterday they were running trains to Datchet 3 minutes away every hour, I see all is working again today, you mention tired rails, elec or the others.

I have used the Slough Windsor line, that too also looks tired, in fact two years ago I am sure FGW were using heritage DMUs.

Tracks on the Slough-Windsor line were completely replaced including steel sleepers maybe 4 years ago. Should be good for another 30 years.

Ive seen alot of replacement works on the Riverside line over the years, but not sure about Riverside and its approaches themselves.
