Is that your photo (ie you are onboard)?I can confirm a derailment has happened
I think as soon as an interim report can be made available from RAIB the better. But I agree with your thoughts.Oh no. This is bad on many levels. For the people involved, but also because I imagine the fall-out may simply be cancellation of all services above a certain temperature threshold. Default protection.
No I’ve been sent itIs that your photo (ie you are onboard)?
Sounds incorrect to me. Doesn't look to be fouling the line.Hearing a report that 2K71 was the derailed train and it has been struck by 1K50.
Would have been fouling until struck hence now on the embankmentDoesn't look to be fouling the line.
Wonder whether it’s because of the derailment and not the cause but that ballast looks to be almost the same level as the rail?Rear of the train from the looks of it (or front)

We did not remove the numbers. The operator did. Before RTT removes the numbers like it did yesterday
Officers are currently on scene just south of Wickford railway station in Essex following reports that the rear carriages of a train have derailed in an upright position at 2.12pm today.
"We’re responding alongside paramedics and the fire service. There are currently no reported injuries.
Indeed - unless a train crashed into the back of the derailed train well after the incident (which I am sure would have been reported by now), the photo of the derailed coach should be evidence enough of no other train being involved!Nothing to suggest so far 1K50 was involved in any other way apart from making the emergency call to report 2K71 has derailed.
In my opinion it's more likely they stopped and RECed it, and/or got showered in ballast smashing the windscreen as they passed. Thankfully it went down the embankment not into the six foot.Indeed - unless a train crashed into the back of the derailed train well after the incident (which I am sure would have been reported by now), the photo of the derailed coach should be evidence enough of no other train being involved!
