A low speed derailment near Insch means that the lines between Aberdeen and Huntly are blocked. Trains running between Aberdeen and Inverness may be cancelled or revised. Trains will be revised to not run between Huntly and Aberdeen.

Disruption is expected until 12:00.

Customer advice:

You can use your ticket at no extra cost on Stagecoach Buses 10 and M96 between Aberdeen and Inverness.

Please note Insch is not covered by local bus agreements.

ScotRail advise it was a stoneblower that has derailed in the night.

I saw a few ones on RTT but none seemed to actually show up as being active. Anyone have a idea what train it was?

Why are notices like this so badly written - trains running between Aberdeen and Inverness may not be cancelled, they are cancelled.

More helpful and reassuring would be a notice that stated

A low speed derailment of a non-passenger train near Insch means that the line between Aberdeen and Huntly is presently closed. As a result no trains are running between Huntly and Aberdeen and trains between Inverness and Huntley may be cancelled or retimed.

Maybe it intends to say that trains may be cancelled, until the blockage is clear, or delayed until clear.

it was DR80215 running as 6U35 that was up there last night.

Why would they spell Huntly in two different ways, though...?

The new improved notice might be better to say that the line between Inverurie and Huntl(e)y is closed given that trains have been running all day between Aberdeen and Inverurie.
