Departure from KX

Does anyone know which platform the 13:30, 14:00 and 14:35 East Coast services calling at Doncaster normally leave from? I happened across my northbound train waiting o the platform last time and EC staff were very niuce about me boarding. I've not got a reservation this time because the man at the ticket window when I went to get the tickets seemed a bit confused and didn't seem to know about any of the trains National Rail Enquires found for me, and I would really like to sit down.

With 2 platforms out of action, platform alterations are regular at King's Cross, therefore I advise you board only when announced. However I can rule out platforms 9, 10 and 11, and whichever 2 platforms are currently being refurbished Platforms 0-5 have barriers, the others (apart from 9-11 obviously) do not yet.

I would only board after checking it was the right train.

Live departure boards show departure platforms. Look for your train the day before and the chances are yours will leave from the same:

Whilst for any other station i would probably agree with you but with so much going on at the cross at the moment all it will take is one slip by a service and everything changes.

Always best to wait till its announced really..
