Departmental Class 930 (Ex 4-SUB)

I used to travel to school on 4-SUB's and 4-EPB's every day, horrible things to travel in, EPB means every person bounces

I also used to drive the Sandite/de-icer that was a 2 car unit derived form a 4-sub with 2 power cars out of Selhurst, good accelleration

How dare you! (EPB Electro Pneumatic Brake ).

But nice to know they were powerful units, lucky man getting to drive a SUB!

But as for the 2-EPB (Yorksrob) suprising its in Network SouthEast livery I would of thought it would be in Network Rails yellow.

The unit in the background of one of my photos was part of 930101, which was in NSE livery. Until recently, there was four departmental EMU vehicles at Chart Leacon, two ex-EPB (or HAP?) stock and two ex-SUB stock. I don't know the complete details of all four, but there's some information with this picture on fotopic.

Must be a 2-EPB I would of thought, but there in quite a bad state judging by the picture, but I am glad the Network SouthEast livery survived instead of that NR yellow. But the third driving unit (In Railtrack orange with a white and blue stripe) looks like a Class 419 MLV?

The reluctance to repaint them doesn't surprise me though. I can remember even in the early nineties the de-icing SUB's around Ashford were still wearing all-over blue!

Looks more like a 489, as it only has a cab at one end.
However, I wonder if it's just a converted EPB?

these where at chart leacon waiting disposal. unit 930101. 977207 ex 61658. 977609. ex 65414.they where used for paint trials. plus class 930. 975598 ex 10989. 975605 ex 10940. in old rail track orange with white and grey stripes.this was back last year.

In a DVD I have got (The DC Slamdoor EMU Charing Cross -to- Ramsgate) near the end is a ride on a Class 411 CEP in 1990, and when going past a certain siding near Dover, theres a Class 405 4SUB in BR Blue, and it has been gutted of everything and the doors are all left wide open so anyone could just walk in (Wish I lived in 1990 then ) so could this be a SUB getting ready for Deparmental use?

Have they all been scrapped? And if any did survive did any of the EMUs get preserved?
