There've already been 2 in preservation - Jan 1997 (D9000) and Dec 2002 (D9009).

Bit of a random observation. There's lots of railway things that would be on people's wishlists in this kind of discussion.

I'd love them to use the Lickey on a day that New Street to Abbotswood is shut at somewhere like Kings Norton and have a load of pres locos and give them standing start thrash test on adjacent lines to Blackwell. Load 7 and winner gets a trophy lol. You could do steam and diesel days, it'd be great to video!
