Anyone know why Wakefield europort has two big fat deltics outside on the cripple siding.

There aren't even two currently in working order are there? Certainly not in terms of being in Wakefield as they are being worked on at the respective depots.

I saw them this morning in passing, going back tomorrow morning for a proper mooch

I don't understand why being a guard at a mill makes you especially gifted at identifying heritage diesel traction, but I am curious about this if you are right. I've not seen any gen about any Deltics moving around, let alone in pairs.

Meant to say a guard at Healey mills , and yes I can assure you they are deltics, I suspect they arrived at europort D.I.T on a freight service,

Deltics definitely aren't working freight services! I suspect you're confusing them for similar(ish) looking 37s..

D.I.T means arrived dead in train, I’ve worked enough deltics to know one when I see one sir,

DPS have posted recently that they can't work at Barrow Hill at the moment due to Covid restrictions. Perhaps a couple of theirs have escaped out the back door!

Maybe not RHTT work, but Deltics have occasionally done some hard work in preservation.

I didn't know Deltics ever worked out of Healey Mills?

Do you know what livery the Deltics you saw were in?

Which livery were they ?
That might track them down.
AIUI the survivors are 002 009 015 016 019 022
Of these I believe 015 and 009 or 019 are at Barrow Hill, 002 in the NRM 016 at Margate "museum" and 022 at LSL Crewe. 009 or 019 I think is at Burton.

I've spoken to a spotter from that area tonight who claims there aren't any Deltics there.
