Yeah, I read that.

The deltics done alot for improving journey times and reliability on the ECML, had a huge following and were greatly missed when they were replaced by the HST'S in the seventies.

I was on that last deltic trip with two of my mates with 55015 Tulyar on the way to edinburgh and i remember how many people there were all the way down to Edinburgh and there was hardly any space on Doncaster staion because so many people were there. This was despite the cold and fog.then we returned from edinburgh to the cross on 55022 Royal Scots Grey and we had a wonderful fast run back reaching very high speeds between Doncaster and Peterborough. when we got to Kings Cross all the trains in the station sounded their horns to welcome us and the Deltic joined in by sounding its horn.It was very moving and sad but wonderful at the same time as i had never seen anything like it before. I cant believe its now 27 years since that great run.Oh happy days
