Deltic model bedside light

As a teenager I remember buying a plastic model of deltic and making a bedside light comprising a wooden base of veneer faced chipboard and a moulding, the twin lights were mounted on a turned wood pillar, at 16 I was well chuffed with my efforts. Design might have been copied from a magazine at the time cannot remember. Does anyone recognise the model? Is it still available?

I probably threw it in the bin when I left home and got married doh!

I would like to remake it, she will be pleased!

I am 70 so this would have been in the 1960's, model was OO I think

Thanks Dale, I cannot remember the manufacturer of the kit, probably one of the no longer in business ones, I had looked on the internet but did not recognise these manufacturers so discounted them. But will reconsider

It is quite common for the tools to be bought by different companies. I believe Dapol use or used a lot of former Airfix moulds for instance.

The current Dapol kit is the ex-Kitmaster kit introduced in 1959, which became an Airfix kit in 1962

thanks, probably was airfix in 1972 as I would be 15 years old then, will look online and buy one of these kits. think design and instructions were probably given in railway modellers magazine of that era. I doubt if I thought up original idea of creating unique bedside lamp. also considered making it using 1/36 model of e type jaguar. 1/6 scale model of Miss Monroe not available

Oops, age correct year wrong! E type arrived in late 59 so must have been early 60's Must do better

It must have been the Kitmaster kit which was released around 1960 in a very bright blue colour. Airfix never produced a Deltic kit although it was resurrected by Dapol years later and is still available.
