Deltic Locos!

Does any member know why some Deltics carried small yellow triangles below either the bonnet side grilles or near the bodyside number? I've noticed in a few photos these little triangles but I can't seem to find why some of the loco's carried them! Any help gratefully recieved, cheers!

I saw a thread on this on another forum - or perhaps it was this one. I think the upshot was that nobody knew the reason, but it was guessed that it might have been something to do with overhauls.

I believe that these were one of the several symbols used to indicate the compatibility of control and/or breaking systems when locomotives were coupled together.
I can't be sure, but I suspect that you could couple any two locomotives with the corresponding triangle and expect the control and breaking systems to work in tandem.
Most Deltics were not equipped for working in multiples.

Type of brake blocks fitted if I recall, and no deltic was ever fitted with multiple working capability.
