Hi
I recently had an interview for a position in the rail industry where I currently work.
The interview did not go at all well and I accept that... Lots of things to improve on
However despite this the interview felt rushed with few questions asked on my answers and one interviewer notably yawning several times and not apologising
One of them said it is hard to move on in the rail industry which seemed gratuitous
What do you guys think? It was like from the outset they couldn't be bothered to interview me which rubbed off on me.. They weren't even sure who they were interviewing. Handshakes felt forced too
Sounds like the job is already taken and they are interviewing as part of the procedure.
In my experience if it doesnt feel good its prob isnt
I had a similar expieriance recently I went for an internal job a couple of months ago. There were 2 positions and it was based at the next town along from me. The two other people in the assement/interview were already based at that particular station where the position was for. I passed the assement and thought the interview went really well. I got a phone call a couple of days later with what I felt was wishy washy excuses why I didnt get the job one in particular reason was they are looking for people who are in for the long haul not going to jump up the ladder at the first chance that came along. Which was rubbish as the the one guy who got the job in the ticket office had just got on the short list for a guards role so as soon as one came up he would be off!! The man who interivewed us all was the station manager! so he surley would of known what is current staff are up for?
What a strange excuse. It seems easier getting a job with another toc than the one you work for...

If you have an internal grievance procedure, I would use it.
Failing that, polite letter first to the HR director, then to the MD - I'd prepare both letters at the same time. The HR director will almost certainly fob you off, but you should always approach them first as a courtesy, then send the second letter.

Deep down I think the job had gone before we were interviewed. If true, it's sickening.
Did you get this job? It sounds like you didn't, but it doesn't seem to actually say as much.

Got another better job so it's fine
