Just a final update from me and sharing my thoughts on today
I arrived back in Peterborough 70 odd minutes late - so all in all not too bad.
For what it is worth a few observations
- It felt a bit like intermidate station between Doncaster and London were a bit of an after thought in terms of today's distruption
- There was a good load the 16:10 Leeeds to Kings Cross train which either wanted Grantham or Peterborough especially with the 15:40 being cancelled
- As the 16:10 Leeds to Kings Cross was a 9 coach train it wasn't silly busy but it kept to its scheduled stops
- All Grantham / Peterborough customers decamped at Doncaster only to be told tickets not valid on the Grand Central service which was the first train to run to Grantham / Peterborough - the York service was also cancelled
- I ended up travelling on the already delayed 13:30 Edinburgh to Kings Cross train in the end from Doncaster
- This train was schedule to arrive behind the 16:40 Leeds to London train (5 coaches) but actually arrived and departed first
- There were quite a lot of passengers waiting for the ex Leeds 16:40 however there were no announcements to make them aware the ex 13:30 ex Edinburgh would leave before with extra coaches and would also be making an additional stop at Newark
- I imagine the 16:40 from Leeds at this point was rather cosy but can't confirm
I can only imagine how complex it must be behind the scenes in managing schedules and crews in times of distruption but it felt like more could have been done to spread the passenger load especially for customers wanting stations between Doncaster and Peterborough, bit I also appreciate the majority would be for London, and you can't keep everyone happy
