Delay Repay

Hi,

I have a question about Delay Repay eligibility.

I was travelling on a VTEC service from London to Edinburgh on the return portion of my off-peak ticket and the service was delayed.

I was quite tired and decided to break my journey at Edinburgh and continue on a local ScotRail service up to Aberdeen the next day however this was also delayed.

My question is...would I be able to pursue both VTEC and ScotRail for compensation for the delays or just Virgin?

You can only claim for a delay on a journey once. This would normally be when you are delayed between origin and destination though you may be able to claim for part of the journey if you email them.

I disagree that you can only claim for a journey once and that this is normally between origin and destination. There is many of a case whereby a customer has broken their journey and suffered more then one delay while using the same ticket, or indeed started or finished short. In theory the total value of delay repay compensation you can receive in total is limited to the value of the ticket, but this is something for the train company to work out and you do not need to worry about it.

No, you can make two claims here. Simply attach the ticket you used for travel and state the journey being made. Your first would be for a journey between London and Edinburgh with VTEC based on the time you arrived in Edinburgh. (i.e. how late your arrival into Edinburgh was compared to if the train had have arrived on time).

Your second claim is with Scotrail for a separate journey between Edinburgh and Aberdeen based on the time your train should have arrived in Aberdeen the next day if it had run on time.

Fine to claim twice, as long as you made it clear what journey you did.

Maybe i worded it badly, infact i did.

You shouldn't claim for the same portion of the journey twice, for example you would not be allowed to claim a delay London to Aberdeen on the train you alighted at Edinburgh, and you wouldn't be able to claim a London to Aberdeen delay on the train you took from Edinburgh the next day thus being entitled to more compensation.
Claiming for the first and second split individually should be ok but like i said you'd have to email them which it appears you have done.

Surely the compensation you'd get would be the same though? I agree that you couldn't claim you travelled London-Aberdeen twice, however most (all?) Delay repay charters reference X% of the relavent portion of your ticket?
