Delay repay with Seatfrog?

Quick question folks,

I have a ticket from Manchester to Middlesbrough. The train from Darlington to Middlesbrough is cancelled which is giving me an hour delay which I can claim delay repay for…

Now I’m just curious but can I claim Seatfrog as part of my overall fare? I know the delay itself hasn’t been caused by the leg I’ve had a Seatfrog upgrade for but I’m just wondering if it all counts towards all the tickets/upgrade or will it just be a claim for the actual ticket?

Yes, you can claim Delay Repay including the cost of the Seatfrog upgrade, this from the TOC causing the delay, but not the additional (£3?) Seatfrog platform fee.

Thank you, I did see that but wasn’t sure if it was included as the leg my Seatfrog upgrade is on hasn’t been delayed..

Well now this train has been delayed enough to have made me miss my connection if the saltburn train is running.

Do I claim from TPE as their train is late and would have missed the saltburn connection if it’s running..

Or Northern still because the Saltburn train is cancelled.

You claim from whatever TOC caused the first meaningful delay.

Arguably if the TPE delay made no difference at all because the Northern train was always going to be cancelled, it's Northern who should be on the hook.

But automated systems don't handle these scenarios particularly well.

I'd claim from TPE, but anticipate they may forward your claim on to Northern automatically.

Yes, Northern are liable to pay Delay Repay for the entire journey.

Upgrades are included in Delay Repay calculations.

I concur with others that Northern might not pay out correctly.

The platform fee is not lawful and can be claimed back, but it's going to be too much hassle to claim on a one-off basis; see previous threads.
