Delay Repay with connections

Hi - am I right in thinking that if a sub-30 minute delay on one TOC causes me to miss a connection with a different TOC, producing an over-30 minute delay in reaching my final destination, I am entitled to claim delay-repay for this from the 1st TOC?

If so, does anyone have any experience with FCC's system, where departure and arrival stations are restricted to FCC-only stations by virtue of a drop down menu (rather than, say, Southern's, where any station can be specified)? The issue being, I can't specify my final destination on FCC's web form as it only lists FCC stations.

IIRC, I used to use a web developer tool in my browser to convert the drop down to a text field, which I would then write the correct values in. Worked fine...IIRC!

You could send in the paper form by post. The FCC online form does not allow you to enter any comments/explanation so i tend to send the form by post as I can write comments on it (e.g. explaining that a specific train was late or cancelled which resulted in a missed connection etc)

Beware that although you are entitled to compensation, some TOCs might only pay out on one of your tickets, rather than doing the calculation being based on the cost of your journey. Although I do not agree with this interpretation, there is very little Passenger Focus can do as that is all the Delay Repay scheme provides for.

I had this issue recently with a 10 min FCC delay causing a 60 min delay on a journey completed on EC. I had to do three postal claims as there were three of us and as mentioned FCC only include FCC stations on their online form. They all went in the same envelope to save postage. I had to chase FCC who claimed not to have had any forms but who then paid out on one of them a day later, that payment having gone out before the email claiming non receipt. There then followed an email exchange and a rapidly spiraling number of case numbers (as each email creates a new code rather than being appended to the original case. In the end 9 weeks later we got RTVs for all the journeys. Contrast this with a claim to EC for an hour's delay on the return journey which was all done electronically and took 2 weeks to process. Interesting to compare public v private efficiency here.
