Hi All,

I typically travel via Greater Anglia, but occasionally use other trains (when going to Kent or Dorset for example). I have been buying all my tickets via the Greater Anglia site, as it's the one I use the most and am used to the layout etc, but if a 'delay repay' issue occurs and I'm travelling with Southeastern and have bought my ticket via Greater Anglia, who do I make the claim with? And am I making it more difficult by not always buying from the train company I am travelling with?

Thanks!

You should claim from the company whose train was responsible for you being delayed. It doesn't matter who you bought your ticket from; indeed you can buy your ticket from lots of retailers that aren't train companies.

The only case in which your choice of retailer might affect a Delay Repay claim is if you buy an Advance ticket from the same company you're travelling with. In this case, some train companies offer "one click Delay Repay" which would allow you to claim Delay Repay without needing to re-enter all of your personal details and ticket information.

Got it. So it might make the delay repay process easier if I buy from the train company I am travelling with, but not make it impossible. Thanks.

Also note that it's the first significant delay that counts. For example if one company cancels a train, then you take a different company's train that is also delayed the first company is the one you claim from. Same sort of thing if you need to change trains, if the first train is delayed enough to make you miss the second the first pays, if you do catch it the seconds pays.
