Just wondering what the timescale is from submitting a "Delay Repay" form to actually recieving compensation (if applicable).

I was travelling from BHM to BHS via SHF on the 4th Dec, the XC leg to SHF, (the 10:03 departure), was delayed by around 40 mins, this meant I missed my connection to BHS, and eventually arrived at BHS 1 hour late, I had intended working that afternoon but, due to my late arrival this was not possible, I therefore lost half a days pay because of the delay.
I have no idea what caused the delay, what annoys me though is when I got to BHM the train was shown to be 8 mins late, this figure kept rising and, as stated the train departed around 40 mins late, if I had been aware the train was going to be delayed by more than 15 mins when I got to the station, I could have travelled via MAN and got to work in time for the afternoon shift.
I posted a "Delay Repay" form with a covering letter to XC 4 or 5 days later and, as yet have heard nothing, how much longer should I wait, and what would be my next step?

Birmingham Sheffield and Brockholes (had to look the latter up).

I'd say give another week due to christmas. Also check your spam folder etc. Was it posted recorded delivery?

Just wondering what the timescale is . . . . .

I make that a month.
I assume that by "posted" you are referring to physical mail and without a receipt or proof of posting (and not an on-line claim). If so, you'll now want any copies of the documents you sent off. You haven't told us if you have copies of the documents, which are clearly going to be necessary if this matter is to be pursued.

Please contact the Company's Customer Services Unit by phone, and firstly, try to establish whether or not they acknowledge receipt of your mail. Then if they do, and only then, you can ask a simple question about how much longer they expect you to wait for a response.

But if they cannot confirm receipt, then the responsibility reverts to you to provide proof and copies of the claim. You haven't provided enough inforamtion about the evidence you have to enable me to advise further.

I submitted a claim by email on the 11th December and XC's response was dated the 2nd January. They replied by Special Delivery, presumably because the claim was worth hundreds of pounds.

Not necessarily. I received no reply from a claim I sent to East Coast in November. When I phoned them, they could not trace the claim but processed it anyway based on the info I provided over the phone. I received the vouchers within a couple of days of the phone call.
