Delay repay - ticket purchase time

This morning my plan was to take a train scheduled for 7.14am, and as it was showing as delayed by 15 minutes I didn't get to the station until 7.22, which is when I bought my ticket.

I have been delayed, as due to this train being so late it meant I missed my connection.

However, if I try to raise a delay repay claim, I'm sure it will get declined due to the time I bought my ticket...can anyone confirm?

Thanks, I will give it a go. I can understand why it would be rejected, just annoying that I might be penalised for waiting at home rather than the station!

The best way to avoid this in future (assuming you are buying a ticket - it is a bit of a known issue for contactless) is to buy it in advance once you know you will certainly travel. If you hold the ticket before the cancelled train, there can be no question of DR being entitled even if you chose not to attend the station until the next train - unless of course there was a RRB you didn't know about, but that's unlikely, about the only time you really get that outside of major disruption is the Marston Vale Line where buses are on standby and usually get dropped in for any cancellation but are not entered into the online systems so you'd not know unless you were there.
