Hi all
I have been delayed while using a complimentary ticket on GWR.
Now, if it was a gift I wouldn’t bother, but the ticket was issued after an almighty customer service muck up and, as far as I’m concerned, is in lieu of rail travel vouchers. So, I’m wondering if it is possible to claim delay repay.
It’s a standard class anytime job, but if I had bought the fare I used it for it would have been a super off peak return.
Anyone know if I am wasting my time with this one?
Thanks all

Maybe send GWR customer service an email saying what happened, as depending on how long the delay was, they might be kind enough to send you out another free ticket.

Definitely worth asking!

I had a similar situation a few years ago with Avanti (in a thread here somewhere) which resulted in me receiving two free first class 'anywhere on Avanti' tickets.

The use of these didn't go to plan, and two more tickets were provided.

The use of the subsequent tickets didn't go to plan either (you couldn't make it up!) but this time Avanti balked and paid me off with £80.

Nothing is guaranteed, but polite correspondence explaining the situation is certainly worth a try.

Delay Repay entitles you to a percentage of the price of the ticket. In your case that amounts to nothing. However, you may get some further free travel if you write in to GWR customer services.
