I'm on my way to Paris on Eurostar having travelled from Ilkley on the 0905 with the connection to the 1005 Leeds to King's X which failed after leaving Leeds.
Delay into KGX was just over an hour but we missed our Eurostar connection at 1331.
The Eurostar ticket office staff were excellent and re-issued tickets for the next departure for Paris.
I booked Ilkley to London Intl (Civ) - am I entitled to reclaim the Eurostar tickets (2 people) as well as Ilkley to King's X?
Just going into the tunnel...............

I don't know the answer, but I don't see any harm in trying!

I if the Eurostar tickets were reissued for the next train you will not have any financial loss, although an hour late into Paris. Unless this meant that you missed a life or death appointment I cannot see any justification for claiming the Eurostar fare, but delay repay as far as Kings Cross is appropriate. Whatever the rules might say common sense should also apply.
(Incidentally I have previously found Eurostar to be very good with refunds when appropriate, but one should not take liberties!)

You should not claim Delay Repay but instead file a claim under CIV protection rules if applicable.

http://help.loco2.com/article/477-understanding-civ#CIV

A CIV ticket is just that - a ticket issued under the *international* conditions of carriage.

The full CIV rules are here: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/Contr...assengers and Luggage by Rail (CIV) - PDF.pdf (Article 32)

You'll notice that no specific amount of compensation is laid down.

Thank you Alter Ego I'll have a look at this.

We are now speeding through France, sampling a glass off Corbieres with our late lunch!

I agree with your sentiment, but just wondered what the position was.
The Eurostar staff were absolutely first class.
I asked the gentleman at the ticket desk if it was possible to board the 14.22 Eurostar, the last call had gone out and we were 15 mins from departure. He asked me if I could run ! ! !
I'm nearly 70 but still OK so I said "yes certainly".
We were then fast tracked through the First Class gates and up the lift to platform 10 and next thing we were off.
Brilliant customer service !
Thank you Eurostar- we arrive Paris Gare du Nord in 12 minutes.

Delay Repay (and equivalent CIV rules) is about compensation for the delay. Nothing to do with any financial loss which is subject to different provisions.

Send them an email saying how pleased you were when you can, I'm sure they'd greatly appreciate it!

Oh no they're not! </panto> That's an "Explanatory Report" into them...which doesn't really explain much in relation to the matter in hand!

The actual rules can be found here: http://www.cit-rail.org/en/rail-transport-law/cotif/

You'll notice that no specific amount of compensation is laid down.

The only thing the CIV rules mention when it comes to compensation for a delayed journey is that they have to pay the "reasonable costs of accommodation and of notifying anyone expecting the passenger" in the event of a delay/cancellation meaning you can't complete the journey that day. For general delay compensation they defer to national law.

The compensation for international journeys is set down in an EU regulation, I believe 1371/2007, and the minimum is 25% of the fare for the throughout journey for a delay of 60-119 minutes. This would need to be claimed off VTEC. Good luck.

Good to hear. Eurostar staff on the ground are very good in my experience, and will help you out without question in situations like these. Try to get the company to do something similar for you in advance of travel, though, and it's the opposite - they are appalling.
