Delay Repay fraud help

I recently submitted a claim for great northern for a train I wasn't eligible for. I instantly regretted it and called them up to cancel it and told them I mistakenly added the wrong information. They told me the claim is in review and we'll add the comment to cancel it.

In the past I have claimed some delay repays which I wasn't eligible for. Over the last year and I have around 8 claims with a total value of £120. If it's relevant all of these were single return paper tickets.

Now I'm concerned whether calling them up might have raised a red flag. I won't ever be submitting a claim again that I am not eligible for. Can they prosecute me over this?

If you’ve committed fraud then the company can prosecute you or they can contact the police. Fraud is a serious criminal offence.

You should not talk about this matter unless you are represented by a solicitor regardless of whether you end up dealing directly with the train company or with the police.

They could, but realistically all you can do now is not contact them, and only submit valid claims in future. And to be doubly sure, if any ticket that you are claiming for has not been scanned at either end or during the journey then I would try and get some proof that you really travelled on that train (maybe the station clock on arrival). That way, if your previous claim history does attract attention, at least you will have evidence for more recent claims that they are valid.
