Afternoon!
I've recently claimed Delay Repay compensation from London Midland (LM) for a journey between Birmingham New Street (BHM) and Lichfield Trent Valley (LTV), delayed by 30 minutes because they cancelled the service at BHM (that I was actually sitting on...), turfed everyone off, and we had to wait for the next one.
The journey was covered by my monthly nTrain ticket between Birmingham New Street and Blake Street (£69.20/month) and a return from Blake Street to Lichfield Trent Valley, discounted with a two-together railcard (£2.60).
I've just received my response from LM which seems a bit muddled in a couple of ways:
* Mentions that the journey was from BHM to Blake Street, when the journey was actually BHM to LTV.
* Only talks about Delay Repay compensation on the nNetwork pass, and not the return ticket.
The figure arrived at for DR compensation is £2.00
In terms of the nNetwork pass, they say:
My maths is terrible, but if I divide £69.20 by 40 and then multiply the result by 2 I get £3.46 as the daily cost. I make 25% of £3.46 to be £0.43. So, if they're calculating it based on the nNetwork pass only, I reckon I'm up by £1.57.
Perhaps they're actually including the cost of the Blake Street to Lichfield Trent Valley return after all? In which case am I right in thinking we should add 25% of the cost of that? £0.65? In which case the total should be £1.08?
Perhaps they've got a default minimum that they'll pay out of £2? In which case I guess I'm up?
Obviously, the amounts are very small. I'm aware that this journey cost me very little, and so I'm not expecting very much. I'm just curious as to how this would/should have actually been calculated. Does anyone have any insight?
Thanks in advance.

LM said:When a passenger has a monthly season ticket we calculate the daily cost by dividing the ticket price by 40 and multiplying by 2. For delays between 30 and 59 minutes the amount of compensation issued amounts to 25% of the daily ticket cost.
