Delay at Rhyl - 22nd January

Does anyone know what happened to the Holyhead Pendolino drag at Rhyl today?
It was reported as standing just west of Rhyl station, and the NR website warned of delays due to a train breakdown. Apparently Chester-Llandudno Junction traffic was running through Rhyl on the through line, and passengers for Rhyl were being advised to alight at Colwyn Bay for the next service back. The return London service was shown as starting from Llandudno Junction.

Was it the 57 or the Pendolino which failed? Does anyone have more details?

Hi Welshman,

It was a blown turbo on 57308 which caused the problem with the Euston to Holyhead drag. In the end, 57316 was sent from Holyhead to rescue, alongside another 57 from Preston.

The return working started from Llandudno Junction, departing 26 minutes late.

I thought all Holyhead trains were voyager worked now?

Hi Sprinter Man,

Almost all of the Holyhead services are indeed Super Voyagers.

It's just the one return working every Saturday, which is a 57+390 combo.

It occured last week as well at Junction, this working is beset with failure using the 57s. see link below scroll down for pendo problems. No wonder the WAGs
will use more reliable 67s in future
