I was at a medium-size SNCF station where the station building closed (and locked) at 8pm but trains were due to until 11pm.

There is a defibrillator inside the station building. Is this a design fault or necessarily precaution against vandalism?

(There is an existing thread in the UK area of the forum which is also locked).

Probably the latter. It's a bit similar at Dutch stations which all have defibrillators but those are in a locked cabinet and you'll need to call the phone number on the cabinet to receive the code to unlock it.

I do think that's the way to do it. But now the advice is to keep them unlocked to save precious time, except some TOCs have found a number of theirs go missing.

But are they in a locked station as well? or outside it?
