Hi

Im looking to book 1st class tickets for December, Trainline (I know...) is already selling them, but are the services not guaranteed to run yet?

Leeds to Manchester Airport, wouldnt usually be that bothered about 1st class but its on a Saturday, both with cases and have to be at the airport for about 11am

If it's a weekday there is a good chance they will run, but there is insufficient information for us to provide an informed response.

Advance fares aren't yet available that far in advance, but maybe you want a flexible fare.

Unless there is a good reason to believe the price, route restrictions, or time restrictions are likely to become more restrictive (e.g. due to an error in the current fares), I can't really think of a good reason to book that far in advance.

I'd wait until reservations become available. While TPE often don't put reservations out, so there is no guarantee you will actually get a seat, if you did find you had to stand or sit in Standard Class you would be able to get compensation for this.

Compensation is not normally offered where no seats are available, but claims may be considered where a reservation has been made.

Either way, if you do get a First Class ticket and find no seats available you can at least get the difference back:

If you have paid for a First Class ticket and no seats are available (or where a First Class carriage was advertised but not available), then you will be able to claim through the train company for the difference in fare between your tickets and a walk-up standard class fare for the same service. Please note, occasionally a promotional or Advance First Class fare can be cheaper than the walk-up Standard Class fare and in these cases you may not be entitled to any money back.

TransPennine Express say they are selling tickets until mid-December already. Have you searched for your journey on their website?

Yeah, its actually the 14th I go! TPE too, so maybe it will be ok

Heads up - TPE's reliability may improve by December, but at the moment I wouldn't even consider allowing anything less than 3 hours between the booked arrival time of the train, and the flight departure.

Hmmn, that is definitely something to think about - we have connecting flights the next day too so there's no way we can miss the 1st leg
