Will the class 313s (refurbished or unrefurbished..?) enter service more rapidly from the timetable change or will we continue to wait to see these trains rolled out on the Brighton-Portsmouth route?

I always thought a change over was coming with the timetable change but I might be mistaken

I look forward to Crosscountrys new services terminating at Southampton Central, an excellent idea and it is fantastic Newcastle trains will run again from the South Coast.

How about FCCs 13 321s? Are these continuing to be refurbished prior to service introduction, along with three 313s?

Finally (and bit of an aside) are any FGW 150/1s in First livery yet?

I think all that's happening is services currently terminating at Reading will continue to Southampton though some will terminate Winchester. They will all go to Newcastle apart from one a day to Edinburgh and one terminating at York. Some services will arrive at Southampton from Leeds.

One extra unit is required for this, which means one more HST will be used on the Edinburgh - Plymouth trip (to spare a Voyager for the Southampton runs).

There are no more units for XC, but they've not been using all their HST allocation.

It is only 6 services (2 hourly) that are extended TO Southampton, and 5 FROM on weekdays, with a sixth FROM Winchester (Southampton on Sat).

It is the 2 hourly nature of the service that allows it to be done with only one extra unit.

These trains are currently at Hornsey depot being refreshed, reliveried and
prepared for service ahead of the December timetable change.

Some of the modifications for the 313s include:

installing door key switches
upgrading to the new design of passenger emergency switch
fitting PESOR switch flashing units
reinstating and testing the dynamic brake
reconfiguring cab buttons to FCC layout
reinstating the speed limiting switch for NCL operation
modifying the VCB air pipe to stop freezing
fitting FCC emergency egress vestibule door locks
fitting smart sanders
installing cab-cooling

In line with FirstGroup policy, all passenger windows in the
additional Class 313s and Class 321s will be replaced with
laminated glass.

Also, note that although the ex LOROL 313s with FCC will be classed as a 313/3 by the owning ROSCO, they won't be renumbered any time soon.

They have been posted already in another thread somewhere, but not easy to find.
The FGW timetable shows them anyway, so here's the weekdays, by cross referencing to the XC timetable:

0600 Leeds 1151 Plymouth
0632 York 1250 Plymouth
0608 Edinburgh 1450 Plymouth
0632 Dundee 1650 Plymouth

1223 Plymouth 2230 Glasgow C
1323 Plymouth 2217 Edinburgh
1523 Plymouth 2110 Leeds
1723 Plymouth 2316 Leeds

It wont make a huge difference to passengers but come the timetable change alot of waterloo depot have alot of alterations to our diagrams, e.g 95% of Readings are going to our non-commerical guards and the commercial guards are going onto more windsors and weybridges as they cannot walk through check tickets on the Readings its easier to put guards on the 458s.

What's the difference between a commercial and non-commercial guard?

Yeh all we do is do the doors, walk through the train and make announcements whereas the commercial guards do tickets throughout the journey.

It would be near on impossible for guards to check tickets on the inner suburban routes anyway due to the frequency of the stops.

Alot of guards do want to go commercial means more money for us. But because the revenue waterloo brings home that swt are not recruiting anymore commercial guards or replacing them at waterloo. Also TEW is correct if im doing a kingston rounder there is a stop every 2 minutes sometimes in 30 seconds there's another stop.

I have lived by the Waterloo - Reading line for over 3 years and in the times I have used the line I think I have only had my ticket checked twice from memory, so champsracing is correct when they say it won't make any difference to the passengers. But then I am normally having a snooze on the train anyway.

Are all 5 XC HSTs now in traffic? I presume they are still only running as 7-car sets.

The sight of class 313s through Chichester and Havant remains relatively rare so I am not sure if more will be used or if this is the full lot. I realise more are probably being used east of Littlehampton

Has anyone sampled a class 380 I mean they HAVE entered service haven't they?

There are not enough drivers trained on 313s to use them to the planned numbers yet.

AIUI since Dec 12th there are 13 SX diagrams, but 4 are still being operated by 377s.
