There is an article in a local newspaper about the new Greater Anglia timetable.
Probably cut and paste from something from Greater Anglia. Here is what the BBC had:

There will be changes to train times from this weekend.

The changes will include services operated by Greater Anglia, including on its West Anglia route and on Sunday services in Norfolk, and increased capacity elsewhere on its network.

I believe today (12/12/25) marks the end of direct services between Reading/Oxford/ Banbury/Leamington Spa and Leeds, very sad

Didn't there used to be four per day in each direction or thereabouts? Disappointing 'development', if so.

Yes but going from York to Sheffield via Doncaster, thus missing out Leeds. I believe these will still run in the new timetable.

So Leeds will have all Bristol? And Newcastle/Doncaster direct is to Reading/Southampton, as before?

I’ve noticed the new timetable for the first fast train into London from Kettering now departs at 05:21 instead of 05:38 but it arrives into London the same time, therefore you’d probably be sat at Luton Airport parkway for over 20 mins. Absolute madness

This is because of frequent engineering works on the line; the slack in the timetable gives the option for double track working to take place

In the standard new timetable it departs at 5:37 instead of 5:38. Next week there's alterations due to engineering work moving that one forward and that service does look to be regularly altered.

I’ve just realised how bad the connections are going to be at Retford on the ECML for anyone travelling to or from Worksop. The 2 hourly LNER Kings Cross to York train misses the connection for Worksop and Sheffield by just a few minutes in both directions. Except for a few connections into services on the infrequent Hull Trains journeys involving a change of trains at Retford, journey times will include a wait of over 50 minutes. I use that connection occasionally when travelling from Mansfield to the North and Scotland but with a 40 minute wait at Worksop and now another 50 minutes at Retford it becomes too inconvenient. It will probably be quicker for many journeys from or via Worksop to be done via Sheffield or even Nottingham.

Either a god, or buses 37 and 38, just over an hour, roughly every hour from 8 until 5 ish. As far as I can tell.
Versus today’s train service, 7 services between 0550 and 1841 plus another at 2304, journey time 13 mins.

Seems something is wrong with the timetable data for Skipton to Leeds direct services. Showing as another operator and no advance fares.

It's been happening since Thursday - I initially thought it was an issue with RTT but it isn't:

A bit of a weird bug for today - all Northern services between Leeds and Skipton only (and vice versa) are showing as TOC code ZZ, but still showing allocations. An example:

It's a problem in an industry system and Network Rail are investigating.

Anyone know the reason for the removal of the Rugby stop from the 08.00 Holyhead?
Avanti did say a year or so ago, when the stop was introduced, that they were improving connections at Rugby for 'Northampton, one of the largest towns in the country'. That didn't last long...

Not sure if it's been spotted (I couldn't see it so apoligies if it has) but while perusing i saw that 9F02 (0616 EUS - LIV via BHM) is booked Non-Stop at Wolverhampton H.L. which is 100% gonna catch a few out over the first few days as i can't think of the last time an express service was regulaly booked non-stop through Wolverhampton! I suspect it's something to do with Pathing!

Also noticed the North wales services are resuming the pre-covid timetable with peak services join/spliting at Crewe, as i spotted 1K14 as the 0535 BPN - CRE (which might be the time an 805 has visited BPN? 805003 is doing the honurs) which joins to 1R14 from Holyhead to continue to euston

As the first (proper-eg not sunday) day of the new TT I hope it goes smoothly for all involved!

Both of these services have been like this since the previous TT change.

A tiny change that passed me by was the addition of a 07:15 Castleford to Leeds service calling at Woodlesford. Runs ECS Holbeck to Gascoigne Wood then back to Castleford then Leeds then ECS to Neville Hill. (Actually went into P10 to form 07:48 to Sheffield).

Should become a useful crowd buster as the 07:30ish train from Castleford was starting to get very very snug.

Obviously not that well known as there is about 25 people on it today. But should pick up.

Please could you use station names rather than 3-letter codes when the latter are not obvious?

To save others' time, having looked it up elsewhere, BPN is Blackpool North.

Garforth has lost its 4 morning peak, and 3 of its 4 evening peak TransPennine trains in the new timetable. While not many people travelled beyond Leeds, everyone who used to travel on the 6 and 5 car services to and from Leeds in the peaks gets to cosy up into the existing, already full, 3 and 2 car Northern services. Hopefully it's some sort of minor scheduling issue as the timings of the previously stopping trains haven't changed so not quite sure why it has been removed.

I can't see the logic behind that. The crowds usually waiting for the 07:49 ish to Liverpool were huge... SO between 7 and 8am that is a halving of capacity from Garforth into Leeds. I suspect while also making boarding at Cross Gates very difficult and overloading the stoppers on that route which are already very heavily used.

TPE have Xed (?) this very unusual message:

Please be aware that from Monday 15th December 2025, the weekday 17:13 departure from #Leeds to #RedcarCentral will not be calling at #Garforth We are working with Network Rail to have this reinstated as soon as possible Please use the next available service, which is Northern’s 17:17 departure from Leeds Apologies for any inconvenience caused

Very unusual - is this an error leaving the stop out, or just lots of complaints, I wonder?

It joins a handful of Leeds services throughout the day that departs from Platform 2 rather than Platform 1 which does confuse quite a few passengers!

They still seem to have an issue in the York and Knottingley services being so close together in the timetable as the York service 9 times out of 10 is always running 5 minutes or so late meaning a battle between the two services for the same platform at around the same time!

Oddly compared to the same train last week, it is expected to depart Leeds at the same time and due to the skipped stop arrive in York 1 minute earlier

08/12/25 - 17:13 Leeds - Redcar (RTT)
15/12/25 - 17:13 Leeds - Redcar (RTT)

Similar to the next TP train to Hull that also normally stops, arriving in Selby 1 minute earlier

08/12/25 - 17:27 Leeds - Hull (RTT)
15/12/25 - 17:27 Leeds - Hull (RTT)
