That is correct...

Due to no services from the North being able to run any further than Grantham.

Yep. This blockade is turning up more and more interesting workings. Others in the list include FHT to St Pancras via Beighton and Toton (avoiding Sheffield), EMT Meridians to Grantham, and EC 225s terminating at Huntingdon.

Hmm... is this the first time we've had an electric passenger service between Leeds and York? :P

As a scheduled service perhaps - I've previously heard of East Coast 225s turning up on Leeds to Aberdeen services, and running via Doncaster.

I once caught a 225 from Edinburgh as the last train south on a Saturday, reversed up to Leeds at Doncaster. Also caught a 225 that reversed in Doncaster to York as a first train of the day on a Sunday.

In both cases the Doncaster Leeds leg was in passenger service.

On Sunday mornings for many years there was a Leeds-Glasgow via Doncaster and in the opposite direction on saturday nights (and possibly M-F, need confirmation) a Glasgow-Leeds via Doncaster.
