Death's going "off the rails" again...

Hail all!
Just a quick announcement to say that after today I'll be staying off of the forums for a while as I shall no longer have a usable computer or internet connection at home. hock:

The main reason for this is that I've found computing (With or without an internet connection) to be something of a very destructive addiction for me, and - Despite several previous attempts to curtail my PC/net usage - No solution seems to have worked for me yet.
So to try and turn things around a little and get my standard of life back up to something like it was a few years ago, I'm shifting all of my computer equipment off-site for a month or two to see if having no computer here (Although I may still use libraries and web cafes) will benefit me as much as I think it will!

Hopefully, going for "cold turkey" () over the Christmas and New Year period may get me out of my age old habit of spending days at a time in front of the PC, get me back into the habit of walking about 15-30 miles per day as I used to, might allow me to restore my existance back to the much stronger and better one that it was about seven years ago, and hopefully might unfetter my mind from all of the internet-related matters that I keep thinking about. 8)

So...Farewell for now, a merry Xmas unto ye all, and a Happy New Year too!
And I'll see ye all again once Hampshire Libararies re-open for 2009CE!

Hail everyone!
First of all; Cheers for all the be(a)st wishes etc. At time of posting (About five days after I started this) I'm already getting along better than I had been previously. It's taking a bit of time to adjust to using library PCs once again, but already the benefits of not having a PC at home are starting to show themselves!

Just to clarify a little on what I'm saying with regards to Internet access: I'm not staying right off the Internet and - As ye can see from this message - I'm still going to be posting here and there from library computers. However as I no longer have access to a computer at home (Which is the main intention) I won't be able to post as often or as fully as I did do.

On these libraray terminals, I am restricted to a maximum of one hour per session (Two sessions per day) and that restriction will mean that my computer usage will be regulated by the rules applied to these networks.
Adding Hampshire and Surrey libraries together, that's a maximum of four hours per day on weekdays only. Additionally, Camberley (Surrey) and Farnborough (Hampshire) libraries are about seven miles from each other by road, meaning that I'll get a decent bit of exercise walking between the two - Plus a much needed screen break!

Anyhow...Although I've only been "offline" for just under a week, I've already noticed that I'm a lot more inclined to walk the distances between my home and the various internet points, supermarkets and other facilities around the area...And this alone has seen me cover a good 30+ miles on foot since Xmas day. So it's starting to get better for me already - And fingers crossed, the trend will continue!

Although, you could always try not walking to use the internet, and getting some good books or something?? Or DVD's or Videos depending on what your library offers of course

Glad to hear it's going well for you Death, it's hard to break such habits but this one is achieveable at least. I tried doing the same thing with bashing, lasted 3 weeks and that was as long as I could do before getting seriously wound up all day long!
