I'm wondering if anyone here has any tips on dealing with anti-social behaviour, and who the best organisations to speak to might be?
For months, a group of kids (aged about 13-16) have been vandalising, intimidating and harassing people in my local area, including to myself. I've been reporting what i've seen to the police on 101. The most shocking thing I saw last week which was the final straw for me, in the centre of town in the middle of the day. This very group were randomly going up to people, including women and tourists, and punching them in the face as well as other physical violence and vandalising their belongings. This was all completely unprovoked. I recorded video evidence and phoned 999 about this, and followed them at a safe distance reporting all they were doing. The police arrived in 5 minutes, but of course they had scuttled off by then. Since then, i've continued to see them harassing people, and vandalising things, all quite close to where I live. I haven't walked into town since then, and drive everywhere to do anything. While the police were very good at the time of the attacks, I haven't really heard anything useful from them about a week on. They say it is being 'looked into' and they are 'very understanding', but that is all. I've contacted my local councillors about this too, who are also 'concerned', but haven't said much more than that.
Someone else posted a picture of them on social media, which was useful in getting some names, as well as the name of the mother of some of them who commented underneath (not apologising obviously, but the usual sort full of attitude who thinks their little angels can do no wrong). I have not posted anything, and don't intend to, as I'm aware there could be legal implications to this.
There was another group of local kids a couple of years ago in my area, whose behaviour kept escalating until a German student was beaten up and left permanently disabled. I am very concerned something similar will happen again considering their behaviour is not being dealt with. I am finding this incredibly infuriating, especially the lack of meaningful response from the authorities. What other options are there? I suppose contacting my MP or the local Police and Crime Commissioner might be options.
