Hi,

I've heard from a station staff at my local station that a 221 has been re-painted in DB Red.

Does any one know if this is true? If so got any pics?

I hope not. CrossCountry is a very successful brand. The XC branding is one of the only livery in the network that could work when someone else takes over. I think the DfT should make it a requirement to keep the livery & branding etc when the next person takes over. On top of that, the last thing we need is AXC repainting all of the trains again!

If it has been done, it's probably a one-off "celebrity" unit to mark the DB takeover of Arriva, rather than the start of a complete rebranding.

unlike the UK, most blind people in germany use white sticks. There was an awful story from Munich last year of a blind woman mistaking the gap between u-bahn carriages for a door and falling onto the tracks before being run over and killed.

I think I've only ever seen one guide dog in germany

I havent seen any brief at work regarding this. Usually the company will brief staff just as they did regarding the advertising vinyls for the 170 fleet.

Agreed. And I definitely think they should - it's a big occasion and is a very fitting tribute!

I'm not sure! Simply because 175 years of German railways has no relevance to our rail network..

Did not get the number, but the stock today must have been the 0512 to London then back to form the 1525 up to London again.

It comprised 1st in W/S silver with three standard in Inter City blue & white plus DVT in Silver and the Red DB 67 pushing, usually the 67 is pulling out of Wrexham, also noticed two W/S staff in the 67 as it left , both in uniform?

As I understand it, if the loco is one of the WSMR pool or the company train loco, it won't be fitted with remote fire-fighting equipment- so at least one driver has to be present on board when pushing?

The DB red 67 is 67018, AFAIK both it and 67029 (the "company train loco") are fitted with the remote fire equipment - I assume you meant to say "UNLESS the loco is one of the WMSR pool......"

No he built the first passenger locomotive, they had been in use for about 20 years previously on colliery lines since about 1804. That means its been 206 years of steam locomotives for us :)

I think gordonthemoron was saying that the first German locomotives were built by Robert Stephenson, as I think (!) I've read. :)
