DB - Storing more 66s?

I’ve seen on North East Rail
scene, (screen shot of post attached), that 66110 was moved to Tees Yard today where it will be stored.
Picture shows 66110 getting towed through Thornaby station.

Is Tees Yard going to be the new Toton with a long line of 66s getting parked up?

Apparently locos going into cold storage at Teesyard Toton is full.110 first victim.

They could clear some more space at Toton by scrapping some of those 60s which have been sitting there for years - most of the longer-stored ones are very unlikely to ever run again.

I've been told (though been unable to verify) that 66133, 152 and 177 are also heading for storage. These are in addition to the locomotives that DB recently offered for loan (source and full list of locomotives for that scheme: https://www.railmagazine.com/news/d...available-for-loan-to-other-freight-operators)

Seems like DB have quite the surplus issue at the moment, even after the retirement of the 90s and 60s.

Things in Germany aren't looking too rosy for DB, and having sold Arriva, that just leaves the freight business.

With DB losing contracts, offloading and storing workhorse locos, and selling off yard space, at this rate, how long before they decide to just pack up and sell off all their British operations?

Things in Germany aren't looking too rosy for DB, and Arriva will be losing their contracts over the next couple of years, leaving as far as I'm aware, just Grand Central and the freight business.

DB haven't had ownership of Arriva since last year.

The Royal Train locos have still got a couple of years of gainful employment, and it sounds like they might be reasonably busy with that in 2027, as per Jubilee years where they've added a third loco to the roster (47787 in 2002, 67026 twenty years later). It's not like they're active on those duties on a daily basis as it is, so not a huge change, though I'm curious how they're paid for by the Crown. Do they essentially just rent them for the day as needed, or is it a more formal and lucrative annual lease agreement?

Also from what I have read it is an annual lease, they also then pay for storage, unsure who has that contract.

I believe it's in two years' time, as stated above.

There's no certainty that the locos will be surplus after that - the royal train doesn't get much use and they are regularly used as stand-ins on the Belmond Pullman and as ferry locos moving stock and locos between depots. This takes up much more of their time than royal train duties.

I don’t think DB have ever had one:

Most of their 92 fleet is in storage, even discounting exported locos.

Withdrawn class 60 and 90 locomotives without replacement.

Withdrawn several class 67s.

The evidence suggests DB have long had a surplus.

At GBRf, perhaps, as they've not been able to get their hands on any more class 66s. At DB, however, I don't think their full fleet has been stretched for a few years now.
