Did anyone here apply for one of the ground staff roles in Westbury that closed last Friday? I know it is going to be a waiting game but has anyone heard anything back yet :|

Cheers!

Yes I did. I also applied for Eastleigh about 8 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything relating to that one, so I'm not expecting anything soon about Westbury.

They seem to be prolifically recruiting ground staff at the moment I would take a wild stab in the dark that this is due to their driver training that is going on soon.
Did you get a confirmation of receiving your application email junior?

Cheers!

Nope, no confirmation emails, no nothing. In fact in the last 3 months I have applied for 3 groundstaff positions with DBS, plus the trainee driver/operator. The only communication I've had back was about the trainee driver jobs and that said "it may be many months before you hear from us".

I've come to the conclusion the DBS don't bother to contact you if you are not successful.

Like all railway recruitment they're slow. I remember applying for trainee drivers with them, and on the application it said if you don't hear from us by a certain date consider yourself unsuccessful. Lo and behold 2 weeks later was called to do psychometrics.

Thanks for the responses ppl. I suppose just sit tight for the mean time. Still looking forward to possibly having a shot at this as the Westbury freight ground is my dads old stamping ground from his old BR days...

Well, I'm not sure joy is the right word. I've got through the sift for the first time ever and been invited to the assessment centre, but I'm unable to attend. I'd already been asked and accepted a weeks over time this week in France. If I'd known what was around the corner then I would never have accepted. It's a right pain in the bus as I've also been invited to an assessment centre tomorrow now for Greater Anglia, again I've had to withdraw GRRRRR.

I also got invited to the assessment centre this Thursday by both email and post. After duly accepting I received a further email today saying that I had been invited by error and had not been shortlisted therefore wasn't required....

Now that sucks

Further to my post above saying I had been invited to the assessment centre but couldn't attend. I also have just received an email from DBS saying the invite was a mistake and that I am not invited to the assessment centre. Luckily, as I couldn't attend this doesn't come as much as a blow to me, but if I'd spent the last 4 days preparing I'd be royally passed off. My sympathies to anybody else who has experienced this.
